KATSUMUSHI DOJO
Established in 2000 by Stuart Shirreff, dojo leader, Katsumushi dojo has just recently celebrated their 20th year of training. At Katsumushi the aim has always been to maintain a training atmosphere where all practitioners of iaido or iaidoka (to give students our correct name) are given support to achieve their best in the art. Many students have been with the club in excess of 15 years and several students now live in Japan and have continued their study and practice in Japanese dojo.
As a British Kendo Association (BKA) registered dojo, we study and practice Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei (AJKF/ZNKR) iaido. These are a standardised set of 12 modern kata. We also study the older forms from the Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu (MJER) school of iaido, dating back to the 17th century.
Students are encouraged to attend BKA events and also European seminars. As a dojo, we have also organised several group training trips to Europe and Japan.
